CFR has sent a letter to Hunterdon County Freeholders expressing concern over the possibility that Open Space Trust Fund money could be diverted away from open space preservation to pay for economic development efforts.  At a recent public meetings to discuss the latest Open Space Trust Fund Plan, which included controversial wording that could be interpreted as allocation of funds toward economic development, the Freeholders gave the impression that no Trust Fund money would be diverted for this purpose.  However, recent mention was made to pay 10% of the new County Economic Development Director's salary from the Open Space Trust Fund (1).
